My Music
Finding it's place among a lifetime of inspiration
Finding my own music style has been a long, winding journey shaped by the voices and sounds that moved me most. I’ve always been drawn to the storytelling heart of classic folk singers like John Prine and Rodney Crowell — their lyrics are raw, human, and beautifully flawed. They taught me that a song doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to be honest. On the other end, I’ve felt the electricity of rock and roll, the swagger and soul of bands like The Rolling Stones, The Black Crowes, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Their grooves, riffs, and melodies gave me a sense of freedom — a looseness that lets a song breathe.
Then came the modern voices — the introspective sounds of Bon Iver, the laid-back soul of Bahamas, the alt-country textures of Wilco, and the genre-defying spirit of Cracker. These artists blurred the lines, proving that roots music could evolve without losing its heart. My sound is born in that blend: grounded in folk storytelling, shaped by rock and roll’s fire, and stretched by indie’s atmosphere. It’s an ongoing process — finding that space where tradition meets personal truth — but I can hear myself between the noise and well placed silence.
